He says: “Is it too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring my salvation to the ends of the earth.”
– Isaiah 49:6
When we read this Interesting passage of scripture where God is speaking through Isaiah we automatically know it is significant because of the specific words that are used and we can discern that God is not speaking to Isaiah, instead, he is speaking directly to The Messiah! Picking this scripture apart, we see that in the very first sentence God is calling this person My Servant. So here is a clue to Who exactly God is speaking to! We know that this person has to be God’s servant! Yet God also goes on to say that His Servant will RESTORE the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel He has kept. So here is another word clue that allows us to get a Bigger Picture of who this person is! Whoever this Servant is will RESTORE the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel God has kept! Now, Who could possibly do that except The Messiah himself?! The Messiah is the Only One who can RESTORE All things! There is no one else in this world who can RESTORE All things to the way in which they are meant to be for All eternity! Only The Messiah can do that! Going further we read that God will make His Servant a light for the Gentiles! This part of scripture is even more revealing of Who this Servant is! First, we read that this Servant is a light! Now to just anybody that might not seem significant, but to those who have read the New Testament of the Word of God, this points directly to Jesus (Yeshua)! Why??? Because Jesus (Yeshua) specifically states that he IS “the light of the world” in John 8:12! In addition, we read that this Servant would be a light for the Gentiles! And that almost Entirely reveals Who this Servant is! The Only One who has EVER consistently been proclaimed throughout history to be a light for the Gentiles IS Jesus (Yeshua)! And in Luke 2:22-32, we read that after Jesus (Yeshua) was born, his Mother Miriam and his father Joseph brought him to the temple after their time of purification according the the Law of Moses to present Jesus (Yeshua) to the Lord as well as to offer up a sacrifice unto God. And when they arrived at the temple, a righteous devout Jewish man from Jerusalem was there called Simeon who was filled with the Holy Spirit. Simeon had been waiting for the consolation of Israel and God revealed to Simeon through His Holy Spirit that he would not pass away until he saw The Messiah! Simeon was led by God’s Holy Spirit to come into the temple courts and seeing the child, Jesus (Yeshua), he took him in his arms and praised God, saying: “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all people, a light for revelation for the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel.” Simeon was praying all of this to God about Jesus (Yeshua), the child he was holding in his arms! Did you notice that Simeon literally called Jesus (Yeshua) a light for revelation for the Gentiles?! Jesus (Yeshua) was the fulfillment of what Isaiah prophesied in Isaiah 49:6! On top of that, Simeon literally called Jesus (Yeshua), God’s Salvation! And in Isaiah 49:6 God said that His Servant would bring His Salvation to the ends of the earth! Come On Now!! This has to be referring to Jesus (Yeshua)!! Even if you look up the meaning of Jesus’ name in Hebrew: Yeshua, it means Salvation! So in this passage of scripture written by Isaiah God was speaking through Isaiah directly to The Messiah, Jesus (Yeshua), who is MUCH More than a light to the Gentiles, He IS The Savior of the Whole World! Have YOU accepted Jesus (Yeshua) as Your Savior?
