“When you ascended on high, you led captives in your train…”
– Psalm 68:18
When David wrote the Psalms through the Holy Spirit, he was speaking to the Lord! So when we read this passage of scripture in Psalm 68:18, we know that David had to have been referring to the Lord! And what is even more Amazing is that David said, “When You ascended on high, You led captives in Your train…” So this MUST mean that the Lord ascended into heaven! How could the Lord ascend up to heaven if He wasn’t previously here on earth??? Now we know that the Lord HAD to have been here on earth at some point! This means that the Lord had to have been in the flesh like a human being at some time in history!! However, there are many people who Still believe that Elijah is The Messiah because he was snatched up to heaven in a whirlwind! Yet there is a distinct difference between being “snatched up” to heaven and “ascending” into heaven. In 2 Kings 2:11, it says, “As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.” So here, we read the actual account of Elijah suddenly being snatched up to heaven in a whirlwind by a chariot of fire and horses of fire! Now that is a very distinctive passage of scripture because it suggests that Elijah was suddenly snatched up! And suddenly being snatched up to heaven is NOT the same as ascending to heaven! When we look up the definition of the word “ascend,” it means: to rise through the air, which suggests a gradual climbing! That is Not At All like an immediate snatching up to heaven! So just by the definition of the word ascend, we can Instantly know that it does NOT align with the account of Elijah! So this automatically rules out the possibility of Elijah being The Messiah! In Acts 1:9-11, we read the actual account of Jesus (Yeshua) where he ascended up to heaven! “After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky?” This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.” So here we see that Jesus (Yeshua) was taken up to heaven before the eyes of his disciples! That means that EVERYONE could Clearly see him ascend to heaven! And in addition, Jesus’ (Yeshua’s) disciples were standing and watching him intently as he ascended up to heaven! The ONLY way to intently watch something is if it is still there! So that could only mean that Jesus (Yeshua) gradually ascended into heaven as his disciples watched him intently! Jesus (Yeshua) did not suddenly disappear from their sight! He was NOT suddenly snatched up to heaven! Jesus (Yeshua) FULFILLED this scripture in Psalm 68:18 to a tee! And what is Even More AWESOME than that is what the angels said to Jesus’ (Yeshua’s) disciples as they were intently watching him ascend into heaven, “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky?” This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.” AMAZING!! Elisha was NOT given the promise from angels that Elijah would return the same way he saw him leave! Yet, Jesus’ (Yeshua’s) disciples were given the Precious Promise that Jesus (Yeshua) would INDEED return the same way he left! Jesus (Yeshua) IS the Fulfillment of this scripture written in Psalms because he IS The Messiah and he will Most Assuredly Return the VERY same way he left as our King! Will YOU receive this Precious Promise of Jesus (Yeshua) today?
