The Key Of David

“To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write:

These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David.  What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.  I know your deeds.  See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut…”

– Revelations 3:7-8

What Exactly is this Key of David spoken of in Revelations 3?  There are many speculations as to what it could possibly stand for, yet we can gather some valuable information from scriptures in the Word of God revealing clues to what this Key of David really means!  In Revelations 3:7-8 we read that the One who is Holy and True holds this key of David, so we automatically know that Jesus (Yeshua) has this key!  And this scripture goes on to mention that what he opens no one can shut and what he shuts no one can open!  Now that sounds just like someone opening and shutting a door!  And WHO in scripture is referred to as The Door?!!  Jesus (Yeshua)!!  Going further, we read in Isaiah 22:22 where the Lord Almighty says, “I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut and what he shuts no one can open.”  Now here we read that this key of David is placed on Jesus’ (Yeshua’s) shoulder from God Almighty and that is Important in revealing what this Key of David actually stands for!  We read in John 1:32 that John the Baptist was baptizing with water and he gave this testimony, “I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him.  I would not have known him, except that the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is he who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’  Naturally, we know that if a dove came down from heaven and remained on Jesus (Yeshua), then the dove had to have lighted on his shoulder!  And we also know that this dove was not just any dove, it was the Spirit of God!  This means that it was sent directly from God himself!  Isaiah even wrote how God said he would place on his shoulder the key to David!  Based on all this evidence in scripture, I believe that the Key of David is in fact the Holy Spirit!  And that makes complete sense considering that this key allows one to do things that no one else can alter!  Now that sounds Pretty Powerful!!  And what is More POWERFUL than the POWER of God himself?!!  This Key of David is none other than the Holy Spirit and Jesus (Yeshua) holds this key!  This proves that one must first find The Door (Yeshua) in order to find The Key that opens The Door to Everlasting Life, which IS the Holy Spirit!
