Love Your Enemies

“But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back.  Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.  Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.”

-Luke 6:35-36

Are you through with your enemies walking all over you?  Are you fed up with your enemies and all their plots and schemes against you?  They keep on lying, harassing, and intimidating you as well as stealing and damaging what is rightfully yours all without penalty.  Do you just sit back and let them get away with it??  You cry out to God asking him if he even sees all this injustice being done against you!  Just know the Lord does see all the injustice!  Yet we must understand that the Lord is not just merciful to us, but he is also merciful to our enemies.  The Lord calls us to a higher way of thinking… and in order to be able to think this way, you must be able to allow him to detach your eyes from the problems in your life to focus on him!  The Lord calls on us to do good to our enemies even when they do bad things to us.  I know that sounds hard to do, but when we have the Holy Spirit (God) living on the inside of us, we are given the supernatural ability to overcome the natural fleshly tendency to lash out at our enemies and instead we are given a humble spirit that is able to overcome with kindness.  Through the Holy Spirit we are able to lend to our enemies without expecting to get anything back!  Isn’t that powerful?!!  I’d say so!  When you are able to persevere under these hard trials as a believer in Jesus, then rest assured the Lord will repay you for all the injustice you have had to endure!  Great will be your reward!  You will be considered by God as His sons and His daughters because you have not lowered yourself to an earthly, fleshly level, rather you have been esteemed by God to a higher place!
