Son Of God

While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, “What do you think about the Messiah?  Whose son is he?”  “The son of David,” they replied.  He said to them, “How is it then that David, speaking by the Spirit, calls him ‘Lord’?  For he says, ” ‘The Lord said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet.” ‘  If then David calls him ‘Lord,’ how can he be his son?”  No one could say a word in reply, and from that day on no one dared to ask him any more questions.

Isn’t it funny that many Jewish people today still refer to their Messiah as the son of David?  But little do they know that thousands of years ago Jesus (Yeshua), their Messiah, successfully refuted this claim!  When Jesus (Yeshua) posed the question to the Pharisees about whose son the Messiah is, they said, “The son of David.”  Yet Jesus (Yeshua) followed up with the question: why then did David, speaking by the Holy Spirit, call the Messiah ‘Lord’?  Because David said, “The Lord said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet.”  If David calls the Messiah ‘Lord,’ then how can he be his son?  EXACTLY!!!  Jesus (Yeshua) proved 100 percent that the Messiah is not David’s son!  In fact, if you look at what David said, “the Lord said to my Lord,” this suggests that the Messiah, David’s Lord, has a Lord over him!  Now who could that possibly be?!!  None other than God Almighty himself!  God is the Lord of the Messiah and the Messiah is the Lord of David and us all!  Now WHO could this Messiah possibly be??  To whom would the Lord God Almighty say, “Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet…”?  None other than the very one who ascended to God the Father in heaven and is now sitting at the right hand of God!  That IS Jesus, Yeshua HaMashiach!  The One True Messiah!  The One and Only Son of God!
