The Lord Is My Portion

“I remember my affliction and my wandering, the bitterness and the gall.  I well remember them, and my soul is downcast within me.  Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.  I say to myself, ‘The Lord is my portion, therefore I will wait for him.'”

Is your soul feeling downcast today?  The enemy keeps trying to remind you of your past away from the Lord; all your failures, all the things that you said and did wrong, and these things keep coming back to mind!  Your past keeps flipping through your head like a rolodex and you just don’t know how to get it to stop!  You’ve been saved, have genuinely accepted the Lord into your heart and life, even been filled with the Holy Spirit – but the enemy just keeps digging up the past and throwing all this dirt in your face – leaving you feeling nothing but shame!  At the climax of this storm you think to yourself, “when is this ever going to stop?!!”  You have had enough!  Suddenly, from inside your Spirit you hear the words, Yet this I call to mind… and therefore I have hope!  You scramble for your Bible to read: Because of the Lord’s great love for you, you are not consumed!  You are not consumed by this storm!  You are not consumed by the enemy!  For his compassions never fail.  The Lord’s compassions never end for you!  They are new every morning!  The Lord’s compassions begin anew for you every single day!  Great is Thy faithfulness!  O Lord, Great Is Your Faithfulness!  You say unto yourself… “The Lord is my portion, therefore I will wait for him!!!”
