The One Who Was Pierced
September 11, 2018
And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on him, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.”
– Zechariah 12:10
There is only One person EVER mentioned in all of human history who was PIERCED for our transgressions! His name is Jesus (Yeshua)! No one else has ever claimed such a thing! And when Zechariah the prophet spoke the very words of God to God’s chosen children of Israel he prophesied to them saying, “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on him, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.” WOW!!! Zechariah was prophesying something that has yet to be fulfilled – even up to now – but will be fulfilled in the future! What God was revealing to his chosen children of Israel is that one day they would ALL finally come to realize that The One who was pierced was their very own Savior, Jesus (Yeshua)! And they would finally behold him! With their own eyes they would see him! And they would weep, mourn, and grieve bitterly for him as for one of their very own… like that of a firstborn son! But how could they grieve for Jesus (Yeshua) like that of a firstborn son?? You see, Jesus (Yeshua) was concieved by God’s Holy Spirit and birthed into the world by the virgin Miriam so he was technically God’s Son! However, since Jesus (Yeshua) was born into the world as a human child, he also had a human father who was Joseph from the line of David. So Jesus (Yeshua) was in fact Jewish and he was birthed into the descendants of David’s line! This made Jesus (Yeshua) 100 percent a part of the Jewish people! And after Jesus (Yeshua) bore the cross, he was resurrected back to life, and he then ascended to heaven to the right hand of God as the firstborn child of God as well as His chosen people Israel! In the same way, Abraham offered up his firstborn son of the promise, Isaac, to God on the altar and because of his obedience God sent a ram in the thicket to take Isaac’s place for the sacrifice! The ram in the thicket, sent by God to take the sacrifice is symbolic of Jesus (Yeshua), God’s firstborn Son! God sent his One and Only Son to take Your place of sacrifice! No longer is there any sacrifice required of You, because it was fulfilled on the cross by your Loving Savior, Jesus (Yeshua)! Jesus (Yeshua) was PIERCED for YOU!!
