“For my eyes have seen Your salvation which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, a light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel.”
– Luke 2:30-32
Simeon was a righteous and devout man unto God who lived in Jerusalem long before he ever saw the consolation of Israel, which he waited patiently for many years to see. Simeon was filled with the Holy Spirit and the Lord had revealed to him through the Holy Spirit that he would not pass away before he saw God’s Son, Jesus Christ (Yeshua HaMashiach) the Messiah. Simeon was led by the Holy Spirit into the temple courts where he met the parents of Jesus (Yeshua) who brought him there as required by the Law. Simeon took Jesus (Yeshua) into his arms and praised God saying, “Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, according to Your word; for my eyes have seen Your salvation which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, a light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel.” The parents of Jesus (Yeshua) stood in wonder at the things which were spoken of Him. Simeon blessed them and said to His mother Miriam, “Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.” Isn’t it Amazing how Simeon waited patiently all those years to finally witness the consolation of Israel…the Salvation of God?!! And just imagine what overwhelming Joy he felt when he knew he was holding the Salvation of the Whole World in his arms! How POWERFUL is that!! The hope that believers in Yeshua the Messiah have is that one day we will all have the opportunity to proclaim unto God, “For my eyes have seen Your Salvation…Yeshua… and He Is GREAT!!!”
