God Is Able To Humble

God Is Able To Humble

October 18, 2018

Twelve months later, as the king was walking on the roof of the royal palace of Babylon, he said, “Is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?”

The words were still on his lips when a voice came from heaven, “This is what is decreed for you, King Nebuchadnezzar: Your royal authority has been taken from you.  You will be driven away from people and will live with the wild animals; you will eat grass like cattle.  Seven times will pass by for you until you acknowledge that the Most High is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone he wishes.”

Immediately what had been said about Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled.  He was driven away from people and ate grass like cattle.  His body was drenched with the dew of heaven until his hair grew like the feathers of an eagle and his nails like the claws of a bird.

At the end of that time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven, and my sanity was restored.  Then I praised the Most High; I honored and glorified him who lives forever.

Daniel 4:29-34

WOW!!!  What an account we read here by King Nebuchadnezzar and how he was quickly taken down from his high position of royal authority in the Babylonian palace to eating grass like cattle in the pouring rain, all because of his pride!  How can we possibly read this passage of scripture and not Truly feel humbled by the Lord?!!  Don’t we think that if the Lord can do that to somebody that he can do the Very Same thing to us?!!  There are certainly times in our lives where we All need to be reminded that we can do Absolutely NOTHING without the Lord!  Pride is the One thing the Lord despises The MOST!  He had to literally cast out the enemy from heaven due to his Pride!  And how many times in life do we find ourselves leaving the Lord out, not Truly acknowledging him in all things or being genuinely thankful for all he has done for us?!!  I’d say MANY Times!  Now that is the Epitome of Pride!  And just know that the Lord WILL cut down Everything that will Not acknowledge him!  There are many times in our life where the Lord has to bring us to humbling places in order to prove to us that we can do Absolutely Nothing for ourselves!  He wants us to learn that He is the ONLY One who gives us the breath in our lungs, the blood pumping through our veins, and the ability to do all things in life!  The Lord wants to bring us to a place where we can finally realize that even if we had Nothing or could not lift one finger to do Anything for ourselves, He Loves us right where we are!  So rest assured, the Lord Most Definitely knows how to Humble us and he wants to keep us in a place of humility before him!  If we cannot acknowledge him as Supreme Authority over our lives, then he will keep us in a humble state until we do!  King Nebuchadnezzar lived like an animal for 7 years until his hair literally grew like the feathers of an eagle and his nails grew like the claws of a bird!  After 7 long years had passed, King Nebuchadnezzar looked up toward heaven and his mind was finally restored again!  And he praised the Most High, honoring and glorifying Him who Lives Forever!  God is Able to Humble!  Has he humbled You today??
