Once For All

Once For All

“Such a high priest meets our need – one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.  Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people.  He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.  For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak; but the  oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.”

Hebrews 7:26

Are there some days where you feel trapped by your sin, like you’re on this carousel that keeps going round and round and your wondering if there is ever going to be a way out???  You made up your mind not to fall into the same pit again – but now your back in the same place feeling guilty for what happened – knowing that what you did was wrong- pleading to God that you are through- to just take it away from you!  I know you might be feeling overwhelmed with the frustration of what seems to be an endless cycle, but just take a second to step back and remember the One who is standing in your place – taking all the beatings, lashings, and accusations for you. Yes, there is someone there, his name is Jesus!  Can you just imagine a high priest who is able to walk into the Holy of Holies (which is heaven) and make atonement for all your sin for all time, once for all… by offering himself as a sacrifice for our sins Forever?  Well, he is!  And he did all of this just for you!  You need someone holy…He is God’s Son!  You need someone blameless…He is the perfect spotless lamb!  You need someone pure…He is our righteousness!  You need someone set apart from sinners…He was without sin!  You need someone exalted above the heavens…He died, was buried, defeated hell, death, and the grave, rose again on the third day, and ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of God the Father to make everlasting intercession for all who believe in him!  So trust Jesus today, lean on him, and know that he has taken upon himself every sin you could ever commit in your lifetime- once for all- so that you do not need to carry it any longer, because he is our one and only high priest forever.
